Protein is one of the essential substances that are found in every cell in the human body. After water, protein is an ever-present element for humans. Our body manufactures protein from the consumption of dietary protein. In fact, a human body utilizes the protein for several critical processes within the body system. For this reason, protein goes through a constant replacement process.
Pregnant women need protein than any other person because it helps in developing the child within the mother’s womb. Many experts suggest that protein is the building block of the body as it provides assistance for the maintenance of the body tissue (including repair and development). Furthermore, all types of organs, muscles, hair, skins, and eyes are made of protein. This fact proves that children need more protein than adults do!

1. Source of Energy
Protein is the key source of energy for the body. If we consume protein, more than we need (for maintaining tissue) our body will use it as a source of energy. However, if we consume an excessive level of protein, it will create fat cells within the body system.
2. Creation of Hormones
Protein is also responsible for creating hormones for the human body. It helps in controlling the body functions, which includes the interaction of different organs. For instance – insulin is an example of a protein that controls blood sugar. Other than this, secretin is another prime example of a protein that helps in creating hormone.
3. Creation of DNA
All enzymes are protein, which enhances the rate of chemical reactions within the body system. In most, not all essential chemical reactions would occur without the influence of protein enzymes. For instance – one particular type of enzymes works in digesting a high protein carbohydrate and fat molecules to small molecules. On the other hand, another type of protein helps in creating DNA for the body.
