What Does A 528 Really Mean?

The MCAT score ranges from 472 to 528. There are 4 sections, each ranging from 118-132. Medical schools PREFER consistency in all 4 sections. But, these numbers are practically useless for us. Schools judge based on percentiles. Each score (and sometimes more than one score) is correlated to a percentile.

A percentile is the % of people that the score is ABOVE. So 99th percentile means the score is above 99% of other test-takers  50th percentile means the score is above 50% of other test-takers. The issue is that 50th percentile is NOT the same thing is a 50%. 50th percentile in any section is a 125. 50th percentile in an entire exam is 500 (125+125+125+125). Always aim ABOVE 50th percentile (ofcourse). But what is a good MCAT score? Well it depends on what school you want to go to, your current school, your gpa, your background, and your activities.

Most premedical students have already been weeded out so those that take the MCAT have high gpas or have prepared for a long amount of time. Thus, even 70% score of the MCAT could mean 50th percentile. It all depends on the students who take it and set the curve!

Not all students who take the MCAT need to get a high percentile. Students might need 40-70th percentile MCAT scores to place into post-bacc, masters, early entrance, and non-MD/DO programs (although everyone still prefers a higher percentile).

Figuring Out Your Goal MCAT Score

First, we need to consider the average score for what your aim might be. To figure out the specific score of your M.D. or D.O. school, visit medical-schools.startclass.com (it will be your lifeline come application time). Okay, what did your school average?

Goal School Average MCAT Score: __________

Guess what? Your unique. Kind of. We still need to consider your GPA. Estimate what your GPA will be by Spring of applications season:

GPA:  __________

(If it is below 3.4 you should consider a post-bacc or masters program to boost that score up.)

Now look at this graph

Now look at the point that fits your GPA and the avg. school score. The red circle means over 50% of applicants were accepted. How big is the circle? GPA is hard to fix, but your MCAT score depends on your work and effort until test day. Is the circle really big? You might want to consider applying to a few schools (10-30). According to this chart, students with a 3.5 GPA and 500 on the new MCAT have a 22% chance of being admitted. Now adjust your MCAT score (up or down) to fit the best circle. Is the circle too small? You might want to consider applying to more schools (30-60).

Desired Goal MCAT Score: __________ (based on the largest circle for your gpa)

Bad news: This is still in the "Old Score". You will see a lot of this. So use this old vs. new MCAT conversion table to help convert when needed.

Converted Goal MCAT Score: ________ (based on estimate conversions from the graph above)

mcat old new score chart
mcat tutor near me

Okay, now write this on a piece of paper and post is everywhere. This is the rest of your life.. well your life until that big test day. Side note: The AMCAS Test usually depicts your score within +/- 3 points (factoring in lack of adrenaline, motivation, tiredness, quietness). Again, a super high MCAT score does not automatically admit you to med school. BUT! It does make is a sure of a lot EASIER to prove yourself at a baseline against other applicants. The MCAT score is like the golden ticket in Willy Wonka, it helps med schools open their doors to you but you can still get sent home if you don't behave (by behave, we mean be the good, hardworking premeds we know you are).

Now lets see what your odds are at getting your dream score.

Okay. Lets do a sample conversion. You have a 4.0 GPA and are aiming for Harvard. You look at start class and see the average mcat is 37. That is converted to a ~517. A 517 is in the 96th percentile. 96th percentile means your test score needs to be in the top 4% (or better than 96% of test scores). Does that make sense? So a 528 would meet being in the top 0% of scores (what? well, technically top .001%).  Over 85,000 people take the MCAT every year. So to get a Harvard-worthy MCAT score, you would need to fit into a group of 3,400 people. That seems pretty doable, right? Over 20,000 students are accepted to medical school every year. You can easily fit into a group of 20,000 people. Now lets talk about understanding this in terms of your practice scores.

Your first practice score will be around 495-505. Don't panic. The knowledge and what content your courses covered determine your initial score. The amount of time you need to prepare for your goal score is not a reflection on how smart you are. You are smart if you take the exam when your practice scores SHOW you that you are ready. You are smart if you allow yourself to take the time you need.

Are My Practice MCAT Test Scores Good Enough?

You can gauge your readiness by estimating practice MCAT scores to the real MCAT. No good formula exists on how to add or subtract points for estimating companies against the real MCAT. Students end up spending countless hours trying to figure it out. We don't like it when students waste their precious MCAT studying hours, so we made a quick, rough estimate based on data from 2016 real scores vs most recent practice fl scores to determine an estimate mcat score

Practice tests vs. est. mcat score

Example: Practice Test Average (Number Averaged): Avg. Score Closest to Test Date + Number of points add to estimate Real AAMC Average

Real AAMC Average(N=116): 515

AAMC Practice Exam #1 (N=93): 513 + 2

Kaplan (N=50): 506 + 9

TPR (N=34): 507 + 8

NS (N=16): 510 + 5

On AVERAGE, the AAMC practice underestimates by 2 points, Kaplan underestimates with ~9 points, TPR underestimates with ~8 points, and NextStep underestimates with ~5 points.

Data based on

Using Jan-Sept 2016 Scores From Reddit MCAT Conversion Sheet. We compared the most recent average scores per company to the average real scores. Remember that this is not an exact estimate at all. Only the real test can determine your score. This is a guide to help estimate how much you need to improve. Some tests were committed due to lack of statistical power. Check out this document to see how estimated scores with different companies compare to real scores: Reddit MCAT Conversion Sheet.

Remember, this score is worth a bit more than your GPA and WAY more than your amazing work/activities. Thus, you need to give the exam the attention and TIME it needs. It is OKAY to push your exam date back.

Key takeaways

Forget the summer plans, forget the extra classes and activities, forget submitting your application later, this score is worth much more. You cannot advance in your application without a sufficient score. You want to take the exam just once if possible.

Don't be swayed by the typical "12 week" schedule. Your background is unique and you need to adjust your timing based on when you feel ready. Whether you choose an MCAT tutor, MCAT course, or self-study, the golden rule is to take the test when your score tells you to. Listen to yourself and take the exam when you feel most ready.

The Best MCAT Course For Focused Students

Our multi-step approach focuses on personalized MCAT prep which enhances student comfort and confidence while boosting their test scores incrementally. Designed by Amareen Dhaliwal in 2015 to enhance student scores on the new exam.

mcat selection

We support all of our students! In order to do so, we will make sure you are aware of suggestions for test dates and we will review your academic history in order to see how much and how well we can prep in the specified amount of time. Our goal will always be to push you to reach 110% every day.

Signing Up

Before you sign up, you are welcome to call or email us in order to find the best test date and prep time for you. We will not push you to sign up until you think you are ready.

Confidence

We will not send our students to their testing room without instilling as much confidence in them as we possibly can. Many students are taught to believe the MCAT is a "monster" that is very difficult. This lowers students' confidence which later makes an impact on their score through nervousness, overthinking, and reguessing themselves. Unlike other aspects, it is very difficult to restore confidence in the MCAT as many strangers do not understand the exam. Confidence (not arrogance) is created in order to see that extra boost in your score.

Happiness

You may be thinking: "Why does a company care about our happiness?" Well, the truth is... because it affects your score! Studying for several hours a day for subjects you may struggle with is morally defeating. More so, leaving your hobbies, free time, friends, and loved ones behind may push you towards being unhappy. Our coaches have been there and can make sure you get out of that mindset before it leads to burnout. While we will make sure you work hard, we will not allow you to feel defeated.

Endurance

The main reason we only hire coaches who have taken the new exam is due to endurance. A 7 & 1/2 hour exam requires much more than extra material. The mental endurance for this exam is gained through practice, sleep, diet, and exercise. No matter how much time you may have, all of these factors play a major role in what your score will be on test day.

Time

Premeds are always on their feet. We do not want to change that. While we may recommend shortcuts and activities that can be cut out of your schedule, we will make sure that you find a way to fit in any and all study time. Whether it be doing review at the bench in your lab or reading notes while walking to class, our compilation of time-saving techniques will get you there. If time is still short, we will create a plan that allows you to learn the same material in a more condensed and faster pace.

Plateau

Students who prepare for the MCAT will end up plateauing once they run out of tricks. Are strategies are loaded with new ways to learn and more material than you can think of! Several of our students may sign up just because of a plateau and we support that! A plateau signifies the need for a change of pace and we are ready to provide the strategies which will get your score up!

Is Hiring An MCAT Tutor Worth It?

The Reality- The MCAT should already be part of your budget! It weighs more than your GPA (which accumulated cost through extra classes, programs, tutors, books, etc). More so, applying to medical school can cost up to $3,000, with flights and hotels during interviews totaling up to $7,000. If you are not prepared for the MCAT, the money you spent so far on getting a premed-worthy GPA, along with the years you have spent focused on medical school, will be a waste. You are always in better hands being guided by an MCAT tutor, someone who can guide you and prevent you from making big mistakes on test day.

Pricing- As a new company, we price in order to draw you in! Our strategies are completely created in order to tackle the NEW MCAT. While some of the material is the same, the length and holistic focus requires a new strategy. We price based on the amount of months you prepare. We do this because it is more cost-effective for you and it allows us to be flexible for our students' needs. Even so, we are still significantly cheaper per hour than large-scale MCAT companies. We focus solely on the MCAT and offer installment plans.

Who We Sponsor- Axilogy funds a nonprofit early medical education program for premedical students.

We focus on developing:

THE ACCEPTED PREMED

We work with students from daily MCAT tutoring to Medical School Admissions to build the “accepted premed”. Axilogy offers the only daily mcat coaching program available with 99th percentile mcat tutors and medical students all of whom have had several students score in the 99th percentile on the mcat (proof of their advanced MCAT teaching skills).

Our course extends further into premedical resume building, AMCAS application development, medical school personal statement editing, and med school school secondaries editing.

Lastly, students begin the early medical school education course; a 60-lesson lecture series, on USMLE and holistic medical content provided for thousands of premeds since 2014 that reduces the learning curve needed for when you begin medical school, helps build your AMCAS application, and allows you to communicate deeply in medical school interviews.

MCAT STRATEGY

Tutors for MCAT assist with developing top-tier individualized strategy for premedical students by applying their mcat tutoring and personal mcat prep skills to you similar to an olympic coach who prepares athletes for game day.

MCAT Philosophy

Specific MCAT PREP focus

Axilogy focuses specifically on the MCAT because we understand that each test caters to a different group of students. As a small company, we are able to make our coaches & program exclusively focused on preparing premedical students for the MCAT.

MCAT Prep Mastery

Our company and our coaches are masters at this craft. Regardless of how high your tutor may have scored, this knowledge can only be transferred to you if they know how to teach. A good teacher knows not only the tricks to success, but the small details that may lead to failure. You are taught on how to keep a list of both successes and failures in order to improve your test results.

MCAT TUTOR SUPPORT

How can you increase your score without even opening up a book?  Support! Our company was developed to remove the competitiveness from this competitive exam. We understand that our students are at different parts of their lives, so our coaches to know how to motivationally and emotionally support you. Whether you are a mother, father, or traditional student, we will develop strategies to keep you focused on the MCAT and make the "other stuff" much easier.

MCAT Speed

As a premedical student, you have already learned a lot of time management skills. We are here to make them even better! Our coaches assess your day-to-day life and find ways to increase your study time. This is also why we provide hourly plans in addition to a daily plan.

MCAT Strategy with Axilogy

Coursesite Access- You will meet with your coach for the first time during your initial consultation. This is essential to beginning your MCAT prep! Please login to your course 10 minutes before in order to launch the Blackboard Live software (this must be downloaded and thus it is recommended to use your laptop).

Academic History Assessment- Our students come from various backgrounds and we want to know every detail. During your initial consultation, your coach will have reviewed your academic record and calculated what subjects will require more focus in order to make your consultation as efficient as possible using your specified time constraints, grades, and colleges.

General Goals- Your coach will begin by assessing your numerical goals. This includes your score, test date, start-of-prep date, weeks needed, desired score, and lots of other information.

Study Skills Assessment- We will use several questions to determine the study strategies that will work most effectively for you. This is the best time to develop lifelong strategies to make classes & medical school much easier. We will also provide a pre-prep study time assessment every few weeks to determine how many questions or chapters of each subject you can complete in a given time. We will provide a unique solution that may alleviate any underlying issues.

Student-Based Content Assessment- Even with your academic history, we do not know what specific information you have retained. Thus, we go over your premed courses and determine how strongly you feel about them. Afterwards, we go over the ENTIRE AMCAS MCAT outline to determine what you still remember. We use this knowledge to determine what you should study first, middle, and at the end of your prep, as well as what subjects should be studied more frequently. This is similar to taking a diagnostic exam, except we go over all of the material rather than just a very small portion of it.

Materials Used- We select the best materials and subjects to focus on in order to efficiently prepare you. We add in materials that are also OUTSIDE of the typical test prep books. Test prep books are sometimes too concise or were released before the writers knew enough about the exam. Because of this, we have our own compilation of materials resourced from hundreds of places. Depending on your readiness, your coach decides on what materials to study at specific times in order to keep you motivated and improving up until the day of your exam.

Time Assessment - Students have their own unique tricks to saving time. Our students also have busy schedules that may not coincide with their MCAT prep. We want to make sure you still get the same amount of hours in regardless of these activities. We begin by assessing your day-to-day routine on a typical MCAT study-day, and then determine solutions to each time-consuming activity. In our books, we consider all non-MCAT activities to be less important unless they will significantly affect your emotional, physical, or academic (GPA) lives, or medical school entrance abilities. We will then plan your next-weeks schedule on an hourly basis.

Nutrition Program-We will analyze your typical diet and, if desired, create a meal plan that is easily consumable and prep-able for your MCAT prep. Depending on your homelife circumstances, we will arrange for ways to save time in food preparation. As nutrition is key to a good memory, we assess your diet and make sure you receive adequate macro and micronutrients dependent on your body shape goals (from weight loss to muscle gain).  A daily nutrition guide with several other sets of information will be made for you to reference during your prep. This can be altered whenever you need.

Exercise Program- In this new day and age, most premeds perform some type of daily exercise. Our exercise programs are designed for you by a certified personal trainer who can help you with all goals from weight loss to muscle gain. We integrate weight training and cardiovascular activities free of charge in ways that can save you time but produce great effects.

Sleep Program- You must be wondering how we can even manage to train you for sleep! This is crucial for your prep. We check in on your sleeping schedule and make sure that, regardless of how motivated you may be, you are resting enough to store those last few chapters in your long-term memory.

MCAT Preparation with Axilogy

daily

You are expected to study every day because we believe you can fit in at least 2 hours on even your busiest days. We want to make sure you do your absolute best on test day. Because of this, we don't recommend "weekly rest days." Instead, we update your plan to prevent burnout and will update your plan so you can finish the assignment later. Daily, you will log your verbal and science scores in an online program in your site. You will also journal "generalized" tips on mistakes you may have made and ways you answered questions correctly every day. This document will be used throughout your prep for reference.

The Week Before

If they haven't already, your nerves start kicking in! Our coaches will help turn them down a notch! One way we do this is by meeting with you EVERYDAY before your prep. This is planned in advance by each coach after they assess your entire prep's progress to hit subjects and offer tips which increase confidence, boost endurance, and cover high-yield topics. We want to make sure you enter the test room with a low stress attitude, yet still take the test with all of its importance.

randomly

Your coach may notice your scores lowering or your mood changing or a special event. Your coach will also notice if you are having trouble focusing and suggest new study techniques. In these cases, they consult with you to determine a new strategy. Your schedule can change or shift almost daily if needed.

The Day Before

By now, your sleep will have been tailored as well as your memory & mental  sharpness due to nutrition/exercise training. Our company has essential day-before steps which form a perfect balance between relaxation and mental agility.

The Months After

Because we specialize on the MCAT, we also specialize on Medical School Admissions. We will help you prepare for applications with everything from LOR advice to overlooking your AMCAS before submission.

weekly

You are expected to meet with your coach every week (usually Sunday nights) to assess the week, create a new hourly plan, and then to receive tutoring as needed. You coach will be available during the week if you have urgent questions. Weekly strategies may change depending on your progress. As you get closer to your test date, your coach will begin to push you to your max every day through strategies we have developed to increase workload. This will be difficult but will make the real exam that much easier.

The DAY of

Good morning! Your coach will be sure to wish you goodluck (along with all of your friends & families). The adrenaline will keep you from feeling tired and we will be ready to speak with you right after! When you are ready that day, we will hold a post-MCAT consultation so you are reintroduced to your activities and also able to understand how to feel more patient during the waiting period.

Our Daily MCAT Tutor Team

Our expert MCAT tutor team work with you every day to improve your MCAT CARS score, Bio/Biochem score, Chem/Phys score, and Psych/Soc score. Our team has worked together for over 3 years while tutoring the new MCAT and achieved several 99th percentile scoring students with a consistent 90th percentile MCAT score result for accepted students.

Axilogy uses a special approach to guide you in your MCAT preparation. Many students hire an MCAT tutor and only learn the knowledge portion of the exam. In order to score in the top 10th percentile, you need much more than that. We use a coach that provides guidance in both tutoring and managing the other 99% of your prep. Tutors provide support, prepare your plan, and meet with you for a few hours a week. Your tutor will also walk you through a full-length exam.

Here at Axilogy, we use only the best websites and software to keep you organized and on-track! With Daily Check-In forms, Whiteboard and Medical Student-level studying practice, and informative blog posts, you'll feel prepared and confident about scoring well on your MCAT in the comfort of your own home (or library…we prefer the library).

Axilogy MCAT Prep Reviews

"This is literally the most innovative and effective program to get a superb score on the MCAT. There's nothing like it in the country and I am very happy to say that I personally worked with the founding coach who has exceeded my expectations! I tried other common prep companies and none of them compare to Axilogy. Results are guaranteed, and the coaches are super professional, compassionate, thorough, and detail-oriented. They will make your MCAT nightmares disappear and take care of all your worries and concerns before, during, and after you take the test. The frequent online "checking in," coaching, score monitoring, practice test analysis, "surprises," tutoring, and emotional support (provided 24/7) make the MCAT such a fun experience. Everything is so personalized and structured. It saves you so much time and money. Best of all, you will never feel alone or lost. You will walk in the exam with so much confidence and EXPERIENCE that nothing (except maybe power outage at the testing center- yea it happens lol) will stand in the way of you taking the exam and scoring in the top of the curve. Axilogy is truly THE BEST thing to happen to premed students. Thank you, Axilogy!"

-Mohammad S.

"This is a great MCAT prep program for anyone looking to succeed on the MCAT.  Axilogy is one of the most inspiring and motivating tutors I have worked with. Axilogy wants to boost your confidence and see you not only succeed, but dominate the MCAT while making you not afraid of it. My tutor made studying for the MCAT fun, which is something I never thought could happen. I would totally recommend this program to any pre-med looking to conquer their fears of the MCAT."

-Christian M.

"My tutor was so sweet and she genuinely cares about helping me succeed! She made me feel so much better about my MCAT prep than before I met her. She is very helpful and offers so many amazing tips on how to succeed. Unlike other prep companies, she also helps you with your sleep schedule, eating, and exercising - all things that play a role in your preparation. There are so many materials and so much information that she offers to you to make you feel more at ease. She's always willing to answer any and all questions that you have and is always there when you need her! She makes a custom plan just for you, which is great because every student has different needs and weaknesses. Overall she does her absolute best to help you and goes above and beyond, unlike any other company I have ever seen. I highly recommend Axilogy to anyone that's having trouble studying for the MCAT! :)"

-Payal S.

"At first I was so lost and confused preparing for the MCAT until I worked with Axilogy. My tutor has a unique teaching style to get anyone interested and locked in - she's really a joy to be around. She's so passionate about getting the best out of people and cares about each and every student. She wants to see each and every one of her students succeed at a high level. She's always there for you when you need advice or have questions. I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to get a jumpstart preparing for the MCAT. You'll be confident and prepared when the time comes."

-Chris B.

"This is probably the best MCAT prep program that one can ever find. I know the company's founding coach from personal experience. She was my TA for metabolic biochemestry. I'm a good student, and trust me when I say that she is literally the single most talented, helpful, and enthusiastic TA that I've ever met at UCSD. She really loves teaching and she actually cares about her students! With her help I scored 2nd highest out of the entire class of 260 students on the final, and I knew clearly that if I went to sections with any other TA's, I definitely wouldn't be able to score this high. Going to her section could be one of my single most correct academic decisions that I've ever made. Metabolic is full of memorization, and therefore can be dull sometimes, but her unique explanations actually make a lot of the concepts understandable and easy to remember! She also started a Jumpstart MedEd program this year in which she teaches USMLE stuff to pre-medical students, and she knows so much! We have, like, hundreds of slides to go over each week, and her explanation helps a lot! It would be ten times harder without her actual teaching, and her teaching style helps so much! She is absolutely amazing. When you are looking for the right MCAT prep company you are not actually looking for the company. What you are really looking for is the right tutor or coach who can actually TEACH and PREPARE you in the right way! The founding coach of Axilogy possesses both the knowledge and the enthusiasm for this program. If you want to find an MCAT company to prepare you for the MCAT, this company should be your top choice because there are no other companies that actually "coach" you!"

-Yunlin Z.

"Having had the founder of the company as my personal MCAT tutor, I can definitely say that she is phenomenal. I recently just took my MCAT (2016) and can say that without her guidance I would have been completely lost in both the material and the pressures of the exam. My tutor was hands down the most knowledgeable person about the MCAT, knowing everything from which materials are the most effective as well as which strategies are the best for you personally. She works wonderfully with students with difficult schedules (I was taking 23 credits and working in two labs) and is always reworking your study plan so it is the most efficient and helpful structure. Having spoken with other companies and even having worked briefly with another tutor, Axilogy was by far the most competent MCAT instructor I have met. But the best thing about my experience working with my tutor was her unquestioning dedication to students. No matter what time of day it was, I could always contact her with a question or update and, without fail, she would respond not only quickly but with a really thorough answer. The MCAT is something that can easily become overwhelming due to the sheer amount of material as well as the difficult style of the exam questions, but I felt like I always had direction from my tutor and she was great at always infusing studying with purpose so that you didn't become discouraged. She, herself, is also an extremely accomplished individual, both academically and personally, so she is in herself a great motivator and example to follow when trying to navigate what to do next in both MCAT studying and pre-med decisions. I have the utmost confidence in her ability to prepare others for the exam and have recommended her to every pre-med I know!"

Ashley L

"I worked personally with the founder and she's such an amazing person! She always goes above and beyond to help her students. She was there for me no matter the time of day. She provided me with great tips on how to excel at the MCAT. Not only did she help me with my study habits, but unlike other companies, they helped me with other things that affect studying. She provided me a list of foods I should be eating in order to help my memory and also gave me a work out schedule to keep my brain active. So many things go into studying and she helped every step of the way! They also gave me great tips on how to destress and keep myself calm. I would recommend this company for anyone who is trying to study for the MCAT."

Anything above that is mastering strategy. It’s tiring and can get depressing at times. You’re mentally exhausted, completely burnt out. But you’re not alone.

Our team of experts have been there, made many mistakes, did it wrong. However, it is these very experiences that allow us to save 1,200,000+ Hours of work for our students, boost MCAT scores, and instilled the belief that anyone can achieve any goal.

“I want to do well on the MCAT. "

Our students often think alike to this dilemma:

“I feel like I've done everything right. I’ve been pulling all-nighters at least five days a week for the past three months. I’ve taken what seems like a million prep courses, study guides, flashcards. I’ve even gone through at least 9 MCAT study books.

I even created cheat sheets, used my eidetic memory to look at them for a couple of seconds. Spent time teaching the concepts to some other students preparing for the MCAT to refine my verbal reasoning.

These are the same strategies I’ve used all my life and worked like a charm in the past.

Not this time… I only managed a low 500’s on the MCAT and lie to my friend’s about my real score out of pure embarrassment.

I honestly don’t understand what’s going on. I’m not incompetent or plain stupid. If I had to guess, I’d say that I’m around the 90-99 percentile based on my class based off of my undergrad GPA.

The worst part about this whole situation is the amount of pressure I’m feeling from friends and family as well as the internal pressure I put on myself... I have this drive to amount to something great in the eyes of my parents who are immigrants.

What else can I do to improve a low MCAT score?”

Does your upcoming MCAT Prep make you feel lost?

Do you suffer from feelings of isolation, like the world is closing in on you - and so overwhelmed and depressed that you see your dreams of becoming a doctor slip away?

Does it frustrate you that your current MCAT Prep Course doesn’t strike an equal balance between teaching strategy and content?

Do you ever imagine what your life would be like if you are able to achieve your greatest potential, organize and execute the courses of action required for a successful performance on your MCAT?

Our purpose since 2015 has been to solve this dilemma while producing top percentile scores for each student we take on. Because of the daily-coaching strategy, our mcat tutor team works closely with you to pass on strategy and content knowledge in a way that will save you time.

MCAT Course

Has minimal nancial expenses...

Which preserve your morale and momentum.

Then, when you go into battle with the MCAT you’ll have OUR skills on a ‘muscle memory’...so even if something happens which the initial plan didn’t anticipate, you can react immediately with lethal effect.

But before we dive into the details, I have a quick question for you...

Which of These Scenarios Have You Experienced?

mcat tutor kaplan

Scenario 1

“I wasted an entire month just trying to learn how to study for the MCAT. It was very inefficient starting out. Now when I look back I wish I had budgeted this in when I first started my MCAT prep. Because I only planned three months of prep and burned one month, I was already 60 days out from the exam before gaining any real traction.”

Scenario 2

“I expected a review course to teach me everything I need for the MCAT. But I can’t review what I don’t already know.”

Scenario 3

“AAMC releases more material suited to the new format. My friends say that the real exam is much harder. But many test prep companies have failed to revise their strategy to be more applicable to the new MCAT style and content.”

MCAT Limits

The Single Most Important (and DESTRUCTIVE) Thing Either Helping YOU or Holding You Back

Our mindsets determine the way we perceive the world as well as the way we behave and who we are as people. It’s very easy to stay stuck in fixed mindsets - limiting beliefs about our abilities and skills that prevent us to learn new things.

We can intentionally cultivate a growth mindset that allows to stretch our mind and amplify the realm of possibilities, and who we are.

Amplifying our mindsets is one, if not the most important secrets to success.

MCAT Powers

The MCAT does a wonderful of testing the content of introductory science courses. Combine that with the critical thinking skills, and you'll make an excellent physician.

To be successful, as with any exam, the time for review and preparation for the exam has to be there. The last couple of months leading to the exam was a blur. All I remember was spending twenty hours days studying for weeks (which I don't recommend). So believe me when I say that I completely understand where you're coming from.

But more than that, I attribute my success on the exam to the way I studied and developed my metacognition in the years leading up to the exam. It was during my first few years in college that I developed the way of thinking that ultimately led to my success.

MCAT Myths

One of the biggest misconceptions about science classes is the perceived necessity to memorize information to regurgitate for the exams. Whereas some amount of memory recall is essential to learning, a focus on rote memorization can detract from the process.

What we've repeatedly observed from our tutors is that, after studying, students can often answer questions from a range of topic. However, when follow-up questions were presented, most students struggle to respond.
Why?

We believe this is the key to learning and being able to switch the way of thinking from short-term memorization to long-term understanding. If more time is devoted to understanding the reasoning behind the scientific principles, then facts will no longer be required to be memorized.

Instead, when asked a question, you can reason your way to the answer. This is the key to developing the critical thinking skills necessary for the MCAT. This test will give you information on topics you’ve never seen before, and if you haven’t learned these reasoning skills, no memorized list is going to help you.

There is no such thing as stupid mistakes. Every single thing you do wrong happened because of a fMed in your thinking, probably one that has persisted throughout your entire studying experience.

Your performance and motivation are in part determined by how effective you believe they can be. We instill fundamental principles of Self-Efficacy which refers to beliefs in one's capabilities to organize and execute situations. Self-efficacy influences people's ability to learn, their motivation and their performance, as people will often attempt to tasks for which they believe they will be successful.

Here’s How You Can Cut Your “Time to Success” In Half and Avoid A Great Deal of the Financial and Mental Anguish…

Let's go back to in history. 1896 to be exact...

In case you were unaware, the Anglo-Zanzibar war was the shortest war in history lasting 45 minutes…

During this time, the British were experiencing conflict and were rather unhappy with the regime change in Zanzibar.

What ensued afterward was a brilliant plan of attack from the Brits who quietly position warships in front of the royal palace and proceeded to blast the place to bits while simultaneously landing royal marines on the ground to assist the attack.
And after just 45 minutes of this brutal, surprise attack, the uncooperative ruler of Zanzibar fled the palace and a more ‘cooperative’ ruler was installed in his place.

You see...

The real key to winning is having both a superior plan of attack AND overwhelming force beside you...

The realist is, we make you into medical students; not “test takers”.

Get started today and see how easy preparing for this 'beast of an exam' can be.

Are My Practice MCAT Test Scores Good Enough?

You can gauge your readiness by estimating practice MCAT scores to the real MCAT. No good formula exists on how to add or subtract points for estimating companies against the real MCAT. Students end up spending countless hours trying to figure it out. We don't like it when students waste their precious MCAT studying hours, so we made a quick, rough estimate based on data from 2016 real scores vs most recent practice fl scores to determine an estimate mcat score

data sourced from

Estimate your real score

Example: Practice Test Average(Number Averaged): Avg. Score Closest to Test Date + Number of points add to estimate Real AAMC Average

Real AAMC Average(N=116): 515

AAMC Practice Exam #1 (N=93): 513 + 2

Kaplan (N=50): 506 + 9

TPR (N=34): 507 + 8

NS (N=16): 510 + 5

On AVERAGE, the AAMC practice underestimates by 2 points, Kaplan underestimates with ~9 points, TPR underestimates with ~8 points, and NextStep underestimates with ~5 points.

key takeaways

Forget the summer plans, forget the extra classes and activities, forget submitting your application later, this score is worth much more. You cannot advance in your application without a sufficient score. You want to take the exam just once if possible.

Don't be swayed by the typical "12 week" schedule. Your background is unique and you need to adjust your timing based on when you feel ready. Whether you choose an MCAT tutor, MCAT course, or self-study, the golden rule is to take the test when your score tells you to. Listen to yourself and take the exam when you feel most ready.
